Design development - building envelope.

The Shenyang Customs Complex will be located in the new city centre of Shenyang in the Hunnan administrative district south of the Hunhe River. The building program includes office accommodation, a 55-room guesthouse wing, meeting rooms, staff cafeteria and kitchen, recreation facilities, and underground parking for cars and buses. The design follows many traditional Chinese architectural principles in its orientation and functional organization. The building's classical proportions, details and stone cladding materials relate to a long tradition of architecture appropriate to important government buildings, while the glass and steel canopies, the communications tower, the atrium and other elements represent a 21st century modernity.
